Professional Learning Module:
This module explores the differences between formative and summative assessment. Participants will also examine the characteristics of common formative assessments and the development of rubrics for scoring. Prior to beginning part 1 on formative assessment, the participant should take the pre-assessment above. Each part will include tasks to be completed with your grade level PLC to insure your understanding and the growth of your PLC team. After completing part 4 Rubrics, take the post-assessment quiz to determine what areas that may need clarification still.
Goals/Objectives:
- The learner will be able to define formative assessment, give specific examples of formative assessment, utilize formative assessments, and explain how to use data obtained from these assessments.
- The learner will be able to define summative assessment, give examples of these assessments, effectively create summative assessments, and explain how to use data obtained from these assessments.
- The learner will be able to design common assessments with their PLC and identify the benefits of using such assessments.
- The learner will be able to create rubrics, implement their use, and provide effective feedback based on the information contained in the rubric.
